The AR-9 blowback platform is notorious for one problem: buffer weight. Unlike direct-impingement AR-15s, the 9mm blowback AR-9 has no gas system to regulate cycling — it runs entirely on bolt mass and spring tension. Built Heavy for 9mm Blowback

Unlike the AR-15 system, the 9mm buffer includes three tungsten weights — because the AR-9 blowback platform needs mass, not just versatility. Heavier is almost always better in a blowback AR-9. The three tungsten weights let you dial in the precise heaviness your specific 9mm build and ammunition require.

Why 9mm Blowback Needs a Heavy Buffer

In a direct-impingement AR-15, the gas system bleeds off energy before it reaches the BCG. In a 9mm blowback AR-9, there is no gas system — the bolt moves directly from cartridge pressure with nothing to slow it down except buffer weight and spring tension. This is why an AR-9 needs a much heavier buffer than an AR-15 running the same barrel length. Under-buffered 9mm blowback builds short-stroke, fail to eject, or run so harshly they damage components. I ordered this thinking I would beat the next stupid ban. So the trigger arrived very fast, just a few days, and I didn't pay for the extra shipping charge for getting it faster. Wasn't needed in my case. This was so easy to install a blind person could do it. Then I took it to the range and I expected it not to work like it was described. OMG did my face light up! Burned up two magazines in less than 10 seconds I think. And is still safe, and it retains the semi auto, or one shot per pull capability. I'm buying more for my other AR's now.

Functioned fantastically. I absolutely recommend a heavier buffer. I have a Ruger AR lower and it fit perfectly. Really really enjoys the metal mags. Had loading issues, disappeared when I swapped to metal mags. Selector switch works slightly better than original. I used a extra spring I had laying around and got an H3 buffer. Make sure you have the full auto BCG or this product will not function.

I watched a video that showcased the ARC-Fire V2, with a 0-45°-90° ambi selector, and I had to have one. After all, it was going in my HK MR556 A4, and it has the markings on the lower for a 0°-45° selector, and I, of course, wanted it to match. So I bought one... While visiting AS Designs website, I noticed they sold HK style selector levers for their ARC-Fire V2. So I bought some... You CANNOT go wrong with this company! Their products are, in my and many others opinion, the best FRT on the market today! Just go to YouTube and pull up a 'Juicy Media' video, and he demonstrates a bunch of different brands of FRT and explains the pros/cons of the others, and explains why he prefers AS Designs! 5 MF'ing ☆'s~!!!
