AK Forced Reset Triggers
AK Forced Reset Triggers: The 3-Position Drop-In AK FRT Guide
AK reset triggers have always been harder to get right than AR-15 FRTs. Here's how AK forced reset triggers work, why The Triggered Company's Wrangeler is the first truly drop-in AK FRT cassette, and how it compares to every other AK option we carry.

What Is an AK Forced Reset Trigger?
An AK forced reset trigger (AK FRT), also called an assisted reset trigger, uses the rifle's cycling to push the trigger back to its reset position after each shot. Your finger doesn't have to do the work of resetting, so follow-up shots come faster. It is still semi-automatic: one round per trigger pull. For the background, read what an FRT trigger is and how it works.
Why AK FRTs Are Harder to Get Right
An AR-15 lower is built to a common standard, so one drop-in FRT like the Disruptor fits most of them. AKs are different. They vary quite a bit between manufacturers, models and production runs, and loose tolerances and tolerance stacking can create significant differences even between adjacent serial numbers. The Triggered Company saw this multiple times during research and development.
When a reset trigger depends on the bolt carrier, those small differences matter. That's why most AK FRTs have been parts kits that need fitting, and why a true drop-in AK cassette took so long to arrive.
The Wrangeler: The First Truly Drop-In AK FRT Cassette
The Wrangeler from The Triggered Company is the first truly drop-in AK platform assisted reset trigger, and it comes in a cassette form factor. It's a 3-position drop-in AK FRT built on patent-pending Next Generation Assisted Reset Technology.
How It Works
The Wrangeler uses a Forward Reset Bias that indexes off the back of the bolt carrier through the Reset Initiated Out-of-battery Safety (RIOS) bar. Because optimal function depends on the exact geometry of the receiver and its parts, The Triggered Company builds the Wrangeler in dedicated versions for different AK platforms. We carry the AK 7.62 (AK-47) version for $399.
- True drop-in cassette: one self-contained unit, not a loose-parts kit.
- Included selector: required for function, and it keeps the traditional Soviet manual of arms.
- Torture tested: per The Triggered Company, consistent operation beyond 5,000 rounds across multiple test samples, with more results to follow.

*Many PSA / Soviet Arms rifles benefit from a break-in of a few magazines of live fire. Rifle not on the list? It may not run as a pure drop-in. The Triggered Company plans to release tuning kits with RIOS bars and springs, and it welcomes owner feedback: once a result is replicated and verified, the rifle is added to the list, and where possible the customer gets some goodies.

What is an AK forced reset trigger?
An AK forced reset trigger, also called an AK FRT or assisted reset trigger, uses the rifle's cycling to push the trigger back to its reset position after each shot. Follow-up shots come faster, and it still fires one round per trigger pull.
What is the Wrangeler?
The Wrangeler is The Triggered Company's 3-position drop-in AK trigger. It is the first truly drop-in AK platform assisted reset trigger in a cassette form factor, using patent-pending Next Generation Assisted Reset Technology.
Who makes the Wrangeler?
The Triggered Company, formerly Partisan Triggers. It is the same team that makes the Disruptor drop-in FRT for the AR-15.
Which AK rifles does the Wrangeler fit?
The AK 7.62 Wrangeler is confirmed in PSA / Soviet Arms Gen 3 to 5 and Sabre, Zastava M70 and ZPAP92, Century Arms WASR, Arsenal SAM7, Riley Defense AK103, Pioneer Arms USA Sporter, Saiga, Maadi Sporter and WBP Jack. The list keeps growing as more rifles are verified.
Is the Wrangeler a true drop-in on every AK?
It is a true drop-in on the confirmed rifles. AKs vary between makers and even between serial numbers, so rifles not on the list may need tuning. The Triggered Company plans to release tuning kits with RIOS bars and springs.
Can I keep my current AK selector?
No. The Wrangeler only works with the selector included in the box, which keeps the traditional Soviet manual of arms.
What is the difference between the Wrangeler and an AK-47 FRT kit?
The Wrangeler is a complete 3-position drop-in cassette. An AK-47 FRT kit replaces individual parts in your existing trigger group, costs less and usually needs more fitting.
Do you carry the AK 5.56, AK 9mm or RPK Wrangeler?
Not at this time. We carry the AK 7.62 (AK-47) version.
Are AK forced reset triggers legal?
Laws vary by state and some states restrict these triggers. See our FRT trigger legality guide and check your federal, state and local laws before ordering.
Every trigger on this page is semi-automatic: one round per trigger pull. Shipping restrictions apply in some states. Read our FRT trigger legality guide before ordering.
