The trigger locking bar — the TLB — is the small part doing the most important safety job in the AK-47 FRT system. It rides on the safety lever shank and locks the trigger during the reset cycle so the hammer is held until the bolt carrier is back in battery. Bent, mis-fitted, or missing, the system does not function correctly.
What the Trigger Locking Bar Does
The TLB travels in the retainer plate channel and interfaces with the safety lever shank. As the carrier cycles, the bar locks the trigger and keeps the trigger holding onto the hammer until the reset is complete. That timing is what makes the forced reset behave predictably instead of erratically.
It is also the part with the least margin for error. The cylinder must fit fully within its channel, and maximum extension has to be verified against your bolt carrier. Too much material removed, or a bar that sits proud, and you get binding or a system that will not reset.
When You Need One
- Bent bar — the most common failure, usually from forced reassembly.
- Over-filed during fitting — past the point where the bar engages correctly.
- Binding in the channel — a deformed cylinder no longer runs free.
- Lost during install — it is a small part, and it is the one that goes missing.
Fitment
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Platform | AK-47, AK-74, AKM, and RPK pattern rifles |
| Receiver | Standard AKM stamped or milled |
| Bolt carrier | Full-stroke or short-stroke |
| Calibers | 7.62x39, 5.45x39, 5.56x45 |
| Does not fit | Pistol-caliber AKs (9mm, .45 ACP, and similar) |
Fitting Notes
Check that the cylinder sits entirely within the retainer plate channel before you go further, and verify the bar at maximum extension against your bolt carrier. If the carrier sits low, the bar geometry is the first thing to re-check. File in small passes and re-test engagement each time.
What You Get
One (1) AK-47 FRT trigger locking bar (TLB). Sold individually. Retainer plate, hump block, transfer bar, and recoil buffer are sold separately.
Before You Order
This is a component part for an AK forced reset trigger system, sold as a replacement or spare. Forced reset trigger regulations continue to develop and vary by state. Review our FRT legality resource for the current picture before ordering, and confirm what applies where you live.
