Micro Draco FRT: Is the AK FRT Compatible With Your Draco Pistol?
If you own a Micro Draco, Mini Draco, or full-size Draco pistol and you're looking to upgrade with a forced reset trigger, the short answer is yes — the AK FRT fits. Here's everything you need to know before you order.
Does the AK FRT Fit the Draco?
Yes. The AK-47 FRT is compatible with the Micro Draco, Mini Draco, and full-size Draco pistols. Installation requires one minor modification to the rear trunnion — a small material reduction using a Dremel or similar rotary tool. The mod takes only a few minutes and does not damage your pistol.
If you're a Draco owner, review the Draco-specific installation video before starting. The rest of the installation follows the standard AK FRT process. Video Installation
Draco Compatibility Breakdown
| Platform | Compatible | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Micro Draco | ✅ Yes | Minor rear trunnion reduction required |
| Mini Draco | ✅ Yes | Minor rear trunnion reduction required |
| Full-size Draco | ✅ Yes | Minor rear trunnion reduction required |
| Standard AK-47 (WASR-10, PSA, Arsenal, Zastava, Century Arms VSKA, RPK) | ✅ Yes | No modification required on most |
| Pistol-caliber AKs (9mm, etc.) | ❌ No | Not compatible |
What Is the Trunnion Modification?
The rear trunnion on Draco pistols sits slightly differently than on a standard AKM receiver, which means the AK FRT needs a small amount of material removed to seat correctly. This is done with a Dremel or rotary tool — it's a light pass, not a major gunsmithing job. Most Draco owners complete it in under five minutes.
This modification does not void the functionality of your pistol and does not affect any other components. Watch the Draco installation video before you start so you know exactly where and how much material to remove.
Full AK Platform Compatibility List
The AK FRT is engineered to work with nearly every standard AKM-pattern AK-47 variant running a standard AKM receiver with a full-stroke or short-stroke BCG. Tested and confirmed platforms include:
- Century Arms WASR-10
- PSA GF Series AKs
- Century Arms VSKA
- Arsenal AKs
- Zastava (ZPAP pattern)
- RPKs
- Micro Draco, Mini Draco, full-size Draco (with minor trunnion mod)
Does not fit: Pistol-caliber AKs (9mm, .45, etc.)
Why Draco Owners Upgrade to an AK FRT
The Draco platform is already one of the most fun AK pistols on the market — compact, maneuverable, and reliable. Pairing it with a forced reset trigger takes the shooting experience to another level. The AK FRT delivers a mechanically assisted reset on every shot, giving you faster follow-up shots with the same deliberate trigger pull required by federal law.
Unlike AK Super Safety kits, the AK FRT doesn't rely on selector-to-trigger timing that can vary across builds. It's a purpose-built forced reset system that delivers consistent performance across the full AK platform — including your Draco.
Federally Legal — State Laws Apply
The AK FRT is federally legal as of the May 2025 DOJ settlement that resolved the ATF's prior classification of forced reset triggers. State restrictions apply — verify your state's current laws before ordering. For a full breakdown, see our complete FRT legality guide.
