ARSE Mode Explained

What Is ARSE Mode on the LAT Trigger?

ARSE stands for Assisted Reset Semi-Enhanced — the LAT's forced reset mode. Unlike the Disruptor's fixed Enhanced Semi-Auto mode, the LAT's ARSE mode gives the shooter variable control over the rate of fire:

  • Pull tightly — the trigger delivers a slightly reduced weight forced reset, tighter and more controlled
  • Pull gently and let it run — the trigger runs at its natural assisted reset pace, faster and more free

The result is a forced reset trigger that adapts to the shooter's intent rather than forcing a fixed reset feel. For competition shooters and precision-oriented FRT users, this makes the LAT a fundamentally different experience from the Disruptor.

LAT vs Disruptor: The Disruptor is the proven, reliable workhorse FRT at $299.99 — in stock now. The LAT is the match-grade evolution at $349.99 — launching May 2, dealer availability June 2026. Both are from The Triggered Company, both are USA-made, both use the same drop-in cassette architecture.

The Name Behind the Trigger

Who Was Larry Alan Thorne?

The LAT is named in honor of Major Larry Alan Thorne — born Lauri Alan Törni — one of the most extraordinary soldiers of the 20th century and a fitting namesake for a trigger built by a company called The Triggered Company.

Törni was a Finnish ski infantry officer who fought to defend his country during the Winter War and Continuation Wars against Soviet invasion. By 1943 he had become so feared for his raids behind Soviet lines that Stalin personally placed a bounty on him worth more than three years of a Soviet General's salary.

After Finland's armistice with the Soviets, Törni refused to stop fighting. He eventually made his way to the United States through the personal intervention of Wild Bill Donovan — founder of the OSS, predecessor to the CIA — becoming Larry Thorne and joining the U.S. Army as a Green Beret.

"He found a vocation, rather than a career, leading reservists and partisans against Soviet communism."

Major Larry Alan Thorne was killed in Vietnam in 1965. His remains were unrecovered for decades. In 2003 he was identified and laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. Nominated for both the Medal of Honor and Distinguished Service Cross — both downgraded due to the classified nature of his operations.
